Rideshare industry may soon mandate drivers and passengers wear masks or other face coverings

CNN reported on Sunday that Uber may soon require that both drivers and riders wear masks or face covering while using the app. It is expected that technology will be used to determine if a driver and potential a rider are in compliance. The exact details of how this will work have not yet been released.

An article by Motley Fool suggests the face covering verification process will be an extension of the current Real-Time ID-Check program currently being used to verify a driver’s identity in order to sign into the Uber app. No word yet on whether Lyft will follow Uber’s lead. This new policy is expected to roll out in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Once it does, we will be sure to bring you those details.
